Underground … in Every Sense of the Word
Located below ground in a retired legion, Vern’s is a place for grungy music, classic pub food and cold beer. Featuring live music every night or the week, the ambience lies with the patrons who flock in numbers to see bands that are anything but ordinary. It’s the kind of bar one would expect to see in a small town except for a few unique qualities—signed drum symbols line the wall and large mermaid murals adorn the bathroom doors. For those who aren’t into the music, a pool table is on hand to alleviate boredom.

Casual Fare
Those who show up with an appetite will be treated to classic pub fare that is prepared fresh—choices include gooey, cheesy nachos, stacked subs, mouth-watering sandwiches and much more. The food may not appeal to health nuts but it’s inexpensive and comes in generous portions. Beer is the drink of choice and wine comes in two varieties—red and white. Don’t expect the staff to listen to your problems, but they will keep the drinks flowing.

Unassumingly Energetic
Vern’s is the latest venture of the owners of past haunts The Barfly and T.A.Vern’s, both of which were also known for their underground music scene. A string of regulars can easily call this place their second home and most who spend an evening here can see why – it’s grungy, unpretentious but above all, vibrant. The music is diverse, varying from country to heavy metal.
