Giving blood is a selfless act which saves lives. Every minute of every day someone in Canada needs blood or one of its components. While donated blood can last up to 42 days, most of the blood Canadian Blood Services collects is shipped to hospitals for use within a week. That is why the need for blood is constant. And with an aging population, the need for blood is increasing steadily. Giving blood is one of the most direct ways you can make a difference to someone’s health. It only takes about an hour, doesn’t cost you any money, and has the potential to save up to three lives. That is the beauty of blood.
Ways to Donate
Giving blood is not the only way that you can make a difference, the opportunity is there to show your support through financial gifts. Whether it’s a one time, monthly, legacy or corporate gift getting involved can be more than rolling up your shirt! All donations are tax deductable and you will receive a receipt confirming the donation.
