Happy hostelling
While many hostels tend to offer good, quality accommodation, but not much in the way of activities and amenities, or else lots of stuff to do, but dodgy dorm rooms and showers where shoes are a must. The people at SameSun aim to provide a laid back, enjoyable atmosphere without sacrificing standards. With hostels in Banff, Big White, Fernie, Kelowna, Kimberley, Revelstoke, Silver Star and Vancouver, their admirable ethos manifests itself all over British Columbia, offering travellers a choice of private rooms and dormitory beds, depending on what’s available.

Services
The Vancouver SameSun on Granville Street is one of the city's most popular hostels, home to 70 rooms and 240 beds, and is many travellers’ first port-of-call on arrival in BC. This is partly due to its convenient, central location, its good reputation and the fact that there is a bar on the ground floor (known as the Beaver), which serves a selection of draught and bottled beers, as well as a menu served from 4pm to midnight during the winter and 11am to midnight during the summer. Guests often congregate at the pub to socialize with other travellers before venturing further afield to experience the Vancouver nightlife. And despite the fact that guests can gain entry to the hostel 24 hours a day, there is a tight, round-the-clock security system in place to keep out the unwanted. As for your personal belongings, there are lockers in every room.

Cultural Outings
No self-respecting hostel would be complete without a weekly series of organized outings, like those put on by the staff at the Vancouver SameSun. Whether it be ice-skating, an art gallery, a museum, poker night, the Granville Island Brewery or a trip to the nearby comedy club, there’s bound to be something for you. Tickets tend to be cheaper if you sign up at the hostel, and also make for a good opportunity to meet fellow travellers.
